Benefits for our school concerning the program is, number one; There is an individual program going on – it’s on a one on one basis. We have found the model run by AC2C by far the best solution to the huge numbers in need of support and counseling. Through their Intervention and joint partnership with District Office learners had the opportunity to participate in the Take Charge Program. Children that would never have had the opportunity to get their lives back on track.
The Take Charge Program went beyond substance abuse, and through the work that they did with the learners the school were able to identify other social issues the learners were struggling with. Systems and methods were adapted until we came up with a successful approach to issues in true partnership. The success rate of this program was over 60%, and in context to traditional programs well above the norm
....I wound up staying at the AC2C recovery home by an act of the Lord on my journey home from Mozambique to America..... I found myself in a cool school gymnasium, welcoming colored children into a gathering where we taught them about the effects of smoking and using drugs. We loved on them with such purpose and intentionality. This was such a beautiful thing to participate in. My time spent at the AC2C home, even though it was almost less than 24 hours total, was an extremely rich and encouraging time;
